The vision for the 402,989-sq.-ft. Fond du Lac
High School was to create a facility that would allow students
to maximize their academic potential, teachers to use creative
teaching techniques and the community to have access.
Because the two-story structure was organized
into four academic wings surrounding an instructional media
center, the administration will have the flexibility to set
up academic programs.
The design also uses sustainable design principles
for conservation and enhancement of student well-being and
performance.
Areas have been designed to foster learning
outside the classroom.
Technology education was planned for the core
space to encourage an integrated approach with other subjects.
The jury said, "This team achieved an appropriate
school environment and also a facility that can be used by
the community. And it did so using sustainable design. The
integration of the two is very impressive."
